The Davis scholarship allowed me to be able to go to college. I came from a very poor family with 4 other siblings. My parents didn't have the financial means to help me. I qualified for a few Pell grants, but that wasn't enough to cover tuition. Receiving this scholarship was a huge load off my shoulders. I viewed each scholarship I received as somebody believing in me enough to give me money to go to school. It was very uplifting and powerful to know that someone would give me the money that they had worked hard for so I could go to school and help someone else in the future.
